Elvis

20150304-063415.jpg

Two takes on the King. Before and after. Both were done while attending Cornish but the “before” piece I redid in 2015. Got a preference ? Take yer pick, it’s only rock’n’roll (but I hope you like it).

Iggy Pop Portrait

20150302-160210.jpg

I wouldn’t say I’m strictly a pop artist but it’s a place I like to go. Besides, isn’t any artist who renders images of Iggy a Pop artist? Call me The Idiot, What can I say, I’ve got a Lust

Julie Newmar as the Catwoman

20150302-155857.jpg

Batman was my favorite show when I was a young kid. The Catwoman replaced Batman as my favorite character as I grew up a bit (duh!). Ertha Kitt did a fine job in the role but my heart belonged to

Marianne Faithful Portrait

20150302-120603.jpg

This is the second portrait in my ongoing series and for my subject I chose Marianne Faithful whose resilience I’ve always admired as almost as much as her work.

Johnny Thunders Portrait

20150302-115747.jpg

Johnny Thunders was always larger than life as well as at odds with it. His career was fairly defined by his constant struggle with his drug usage as much as a signature guitar sound as distinct as any I’ve ever

Vic Chesnutt Portrait

20150302-114815.jpg

I moved to Athens Georgia in 1986 and became very good friends with Vic. At the time he was in a band called the La Di Das and his solo career was preparing to take off. Amazingly talented, endlessly charming

LAMF

20150224-233629.jpg

This piece was inspired as a Valentine on a very down year. The idea was to take the classic 70s LOVE logo and mess with the message. I’m a big Johnny Thunders fan and particularly love his seminal first album,

The Revelator

20141219-143625.jpg

The Revelator is the prototype for the Testifyre and has exactly the same guts. Satisfied with the stellar sound we decided to redesign the cabinet and rename the amp. The Rev is the only one of it’s kind. It is

Functional Art Guitar Hanger

20141210-160133.jpg

We all got hang ups, right ? This double guitar hanging sculpture appears as if it were perhaps created by Dr. Seuss using parts salvaged from the Yellow Submarine. That said, it pretty much speaks for itself. A HangFire original.

The Failed Reparation of Circles Broken

20141203-050150.jpg

This piece is loaded with symbolism and represents the power of love and how much it can cost. It’s one of my favorites because it was created out of desperation dressed up as hope and it turns out this is

20141202-165747.jpg

This custom HangFiire guitar display case looks good on lottsa guitars. The inside is lined with green gator patent leather and the door and hanger are a winning hand and a nod to Tumblin’ Dice. This model sells for $1100

Telecase

20141202-153253.jpg

Black Keys. Madison Square Garden

20140808-154247.jpg

The simplicity of a black and white pin striped frame suited this piece nicely. But it’s the mat that makes this thing explode. I mounted a really wildly circled pattern of laser film on a mat board to create this

Maek Lanegan Metallic Justin Hampton Poster

20140806-150812.jpg

This Mark Lanegan poster by Justin Hampton is one of my favorites. The metallic poster is a really great look and provided plenty of inspiration when it came time to design the frame job. I started with a metallic moulding

Pearl Jam / Mudhoney , Portland 2013

20140724-163257.jpg

The moulding used to create this frame is called Gear Head which couldn’t be more fitting for the art work. An extension had to be added on to this frame to allow sufficient depth for the marbled blue Venetian sidewalls

Thee Revelator Guitar Amplifier

20140523-130722.jpg

The Revelator is HangFire’s first original Boutique Guitar Amplifier. After building a couple custom cabinets for existing amplifiers it was time to take the plunge into the world of Boutique Amplifiers. I had heard about Ben Verellen and the incredible

X “Ain’t Love Grand”

20130815-174619.jpg

What better describes the magnificent grandeur of love than baby blue barbed wire ? I couldn’t think of anything so I went with it. The frame was a project in itself. I had always loved this moulding just for the
